FROM ACROSS THE MILES WE WISH YOU ALL A 'SAVIOUR FILLED' CHRISTMAS, AND AN EXCEEDINGLY PROSPERIOUS NEW YEAR WITH ALL THE WONDEROUS GIFT'S GOD WILL BLESS YOU WITH.
So I will start with our amazing Christmas Party in Mirerani on the 20th Dec. where we fed 585 children and adults, and Paul our webmaster will follow up with a link with the photo's and text of my trip to the UK. (select UK2008 from the Stories page on the website)
We knew it was going to be a long tiring day as we transported extra staff into the mining area of Mirerani, to prepare the 60 kilo of meat, rice, and all the vegetables and fruit for the Food Kitchens Christmas Party.
The start of the dinner was organised for 2pm for the adult HIV/AIDS group to eat first..... the blind guests arrived first at 9am not wanting to miss out on anything, and then we heard the street
children gathering outside.
Some children waited 6 hours for the christmas meal and a gift. I managed to take photo's of the first group of people coming in for there meal, but as it was 'all hands on deck' thereafter, I completely forgot to take any photo's of the children.
As the children lined up we made a note of the street children who attended in rags and had no shoes. After xmas Grace our Social Worker will go and assess their situation, to see what help we can give them and to get them back into education.
An overnight stay at Fleeze House brought early morning visitors to the centre, and during the morning I accomodated two children. The first an 8 year old Albino child whose father and mother brought her to me for protection from the witch doctor's and the second an 18 month old boy whose mother was to sick with Aids to care for him any longer, and so everyday the work of Light in Africa is growing, including our faith that God will provide for all of His children and meet all of our needs.
I thank and bless you all for your commitment to Light in Africa during this year. Without your help we would have great difficulty in helping over 12,000 children and adults alone this year with medical and social assistance.
HAVE A WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS TIME AND REMEMBER GOD IS ABOVE ANY MAN-MADE RECESSION, HE IS THE AWESOME GOD THAT WE SERVE AT LIGHT IN AFRICA.

Hi everyone, let me be the first to wish you all a joyous Christmas.
I am over here in the UK for the following 4 weeks, and Laura has been very busy making arrangements for me to speak about the work of Light in Africa, up and down the country. At present, it's swirling snow!!! and I really don't do cold or snow anymore having lived in around 28 degrees for the last 8 years, so I'm shrivelling up like a wizoned old prune.
I might not have time to respond to all my correspondence with being on the move so much, but please have patience with me and I will respond eventually.
Sister Grace was going to collect the child on Monday, and bring the child into care. The above photo shows our new little ones who are based at Fleeze House. The majority of these babies have been abandoned.
Have a blessed week.

REQUESTING HELP FROM RETIRED OR ANY TEACHERS WHO WOULD LIKE TO ASSIST IN OUR CHILDREN'S SCHOOL
This is a request from the Manager of the private school that many of our boarders and children attend.
The school would like to change from a Tanzanian curriculum to have International status. To make this change they would like overseas teachers to come over and assist them with the new English curriculum.
All basic needs will be met as well as accommodation. ( I can guarantee you will not go hungry; all of our boarders have gained weight and it is the only school I know which regularly has meat on it's menu !)
Anyone requiring further information, please contact me and I will pass the relevant details on.
Many thanks, mama lynn

Last year on my birthday, my grandson Christian was born, he is now a very strong little toddler and a joy to be with.
This year I also had a celebration when the District Commissioner Mama Hasna invited me to have lunch with other guests when the Prime Minister Honorable Peter Pinda, was in the area for a 5 day visit.
After a delicious lunch, I was introduced to the Prime Minister by local MP Fuya Kimbiti. I explained to the PM that two hours previous, I had just accepted two more HIV/AIDS children into our care who had been sent by the local hospital. Both their parents had died and the children were living with a stepfather who was uncaring about them.... After many questions about LIA he said to ask if the Government could assist me with anything and also he would very much like to visit the Tudor Village site on his next return to the area.
Over the last year we have been blessed with a visit by the President's wife Mama Salma Kikwete to our nursery, lunch with the President and now I have met the new Prime Minister the Hon. Mr. P. Pinda. Quite a lot goes on from this little spot on the globe, don't you think?

Over the years that I now have lived in Tanzania, I have been overwhelmed at how people who visit with us are touched by the mission of Light in Africa and all of its children we have in our care.
People come to visit with us either as volunteers or they have just 'dropped in' because someone has mentioned LIA to them. Throughout the year we show many, many people our childrens' homes. And what happens when they return home is that they may decide to fundraise or do something to help and support our children. They don't forget about us. In 2002 I had a visit from a medical student who accompanied me and all of our little ones to a local clinic, he left, and I didn't here anything from him for over a year. The next email I received was to say he was getting married and that instead of wedding presents he and his future wife were asking their guests to donate to LIA instead of buying household goods.
This wonderful 'love gift' occured, and the loving couple now have two young children and still financially help us.
Last week, we also saw this sacrifice of love when another couple also forgo there gifts for themselves and instead asked there guests to give to a childrens' home in Africa..... it utterly amazes me, and my heart is full of wonderment at what they have done. I know my God will reward you for your selfless giving. Thank you.
Please log on to our celebration page and see their beautiful wedding picture.
